About Valhaha
How it started
Launched in Summer 2025, Valhaha | Gods of Comedy was an open-air comedy series set in the heart of York at THOR’s, a vibrant Viking-themed bar. A collaboration between THOR’s and Polyphonic Events, the series was designed to bring top-quality stand-up to the city in a unique, festival-style setting.
Running across three summer evenings - June 18th, July 16th, and August 20th - Valhaha offered audiences a relaxed atmosphere, craft drinks, and handpicked line-ups of rising stars and established comedians. With affordable advance tickets and a lively post-work crowd, it quickly became a standout fixture in York’s summer events calendar.
Now hosted in the atmospheric basement of The House of Trembling Madness (Lendal), the series continues to deliver packed-out rooms and high-energy performances in an intimate setting. Each event sells out, cementing Valhaha’s reputation as a must-see comedy night in York, where carefully curated line-ups meet one of the city’s most characterful venues.
